I am nice and strong thanks to e’Pap! Thank you to e’Pap for giving us the resources we need, we can’t wait for you to come back … the community is strong because of you.” – Baros, whose favorite e’Pap flavor is strawberry
e’Pap has been working for 10+ years with the Ndumo community, a place known for its game reserve and beautiful, diverse birdlife. In contrast, its rural community struggles to make ends meet and has many children from disadvantaged households. Though food is distributed to children during term time, all feeding schemes close in December when schools do – and this is where e’Pap’s instant porridge mix comes in. The Ndumo Community Feeding Project prior to COVID-19 was a three-way collaboration between e’Pap providing food, Supatrade Build-It providing transport, and students of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Together, we have provided 70,800 meals of e’Pap in 2019.
In 2020, e’Pap handed out more than 5 tonnes of e’Pap to Ndumo to assist vulnerable children and orphans through the pandemic. Always pleased to receive e’Pap, our porridge mix has helped them (especially during festive periods) where schools and feeding schemes have shut down. The e’Pap Foundation NPC distributed e’Pap across 21 schools, 225 households, and 44 Reserve Rangers – helping us feed 3000 people by December 2020 so they stay strong during these difficult times. In this time, we equipped the Ndumo Community with enough e’Pap to feed 500 children everyday in 7 schools for 3 days alongside Dr. Cheryl Oligvie and her students from TUT.
We need e’Pap because it helps us so much, it has helped our kids and the youth in general … we love e’Pap! We ask that it comes back. – Mr Thusi, nduna (leader/spokesperson) of Ndumo
