You feel lively, you feel good. You have your e’Pap in the morning and
by the afternoon you find its given you a lot of strength and energy. – Najma (73)
A suburb in Johannesburg, Vrededorp is home to the Park Care Centre, a nonprofit organization that provides e’Pap and clothing to the area’s 250+ elderly residents, as well as children in need of these supplies, once a month. The Centre manages a successful home-based care project for older individuals who may be ill, poor or vulnerable in any way and live in sub-economic council housing. Partially subsidized by private donors and the Department of Social Development, this Centre supports its elderly community through transport and escort services to hospitals, and assists them with daily tasks in their homes through Park Care staff and care-workers.
